About Institution
Located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, Bow Valley College in Calgary is the region’s only publicly funded college. It offers a range of programs that lead to certificates and diplomas in business, health, community studies, creative technologies, academic upgrading and English language learning.
Bow Valley College is addressing growth in Alberta’s creative industries with its School of Creative Technologies, offering programs in information technology systems, software development, digital marketing, data management and analytics, and kitchen and bath design. The school also offers post-diploma certificates, and now has a post-baccalaureate certificate in data management and analytics.
The college receives students from all over the world and it’s 17,500 students consist of 148 nationalities and speak 98 different languages in its different campuses. Bow Valley has a main campus in downtown Calgary and six regional campuses throughout southern Alberta in Airdrie, Banff/Cochrane, High River, Okotoks and Strathmore. These branches collectively serve more full and part time students than any other college in the province. Although the college lacks its own residence, students are eligible to live in student accommodation at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary.
Bow Valley graduates have an employment rate of 85 percent and a satisfaction rate of 92 percent. Some popular programs include Cybersecurity, Disability Studies, Business Administration and Practical Nurse.
