About Institution

Located in Red Deer, Alberta’s fourth largest city, halfway between the major centers of Calgary and Edmonton, Reed Deer College (RDC) offers more than 100 programs including degrees, certificates, diplomas and skilled trades program.

RDC’s programs are led by expert instructors who care, with practical and applied learning opportunities that allow students to gain experiences for the real world. It maintains small class sizes across majority of programs which enables students to develop meaningful relationships with their instructors and peers.

Applied research and innovation provide opportunities where RDC’s students and faculty collaborate with business and entrepreneurs to find solutions to real-world problems. Many of RDC’s applied research projects and facilities help to advance issues deeply cared for by the community, ensuring contribution to sustainable future for not only the college but also for Central Alberta and beyond.

RDC has 7,500 full and part-time students and research shows that 92 percent of graduates find employment within 6 months of graduation. Moreover, 96 percent of graduates have reported satisfaction with the quality of education they receive from RDC.

The college has two campuses: main campus and downtown campus, both located in Red Deer. RDC’s main campus features new world-class facilities, including a teaching, learning and athletic center. Main campus also features a new Residence building, dynamic performing arts facilities, an innovative Alternative Energy Lab and a wide variety of spaces to study and socialize. It is a picturesque place to learn and live, with 290 acres – almost 120 hectares – that includes state-of-the-art facilities surrounded by nature and trails.
In 2018 RDC received approval to become a university offering its own degrees. To that end the college continues to expand programs across a range of credentials as it transitions to become a polytechnic university during the next three to five years. Once the transition concludes RDC will officially be known as Red Deer University.
